School Uniform Standards
We are committed to ensuring that our school uniform is affordable and accessible for all families.
We keep our expectations simple and flexible, so families have choice and can manage costs effectively.
Our approach
- No item requires a school logo – families may choose plain items or add a school logo if they wish
- Uniform can be purchased from a range of retailers, including supermarkets and high street shops
- We do not require any branded or specialist items
- We do not specify brands for items such as coats, bags or shoes
- The same expectations apply across the school to avoid additional costs
Supporting families
- A Swap & Shop provides access to good-quality second-hand uniform at low cost
- We avoid frequent changes to the uniform
- Families are encouraged to share any concerns about affordability
If you are experiencing difficulty with uniform costs, please contact the school. We will always take a discreet and supportive approach to find a solution.
Our school uniform is as follows:
· Plain sky blue polo shirt (long or short sleeved) ,with or without the school badge.
· Plain navy blue sweatshirt (round necked), with or without the school badge
· Plain grey school trousers, skorts or shorts (tracksuit bottoms, jeans, jogging pants, leggings etc. are not allowed)
· Plain grey school skirt/pinafore dress OR pale blue gingham dress in summer.
· Plain all black school shoes/trainers (no logos please)
PE Kit - we ask pupils to come ready for PE on PE days by wearing the following:
· Plain sky blue polo shirt (usual school polo shirt)
· plain navy blue, dark grey or black jogging bottoms
· Plain navy sweatshirt or school hoodie (this can only be worn on PE days)
· Plimsols or trainers
Swimming
Children going swimming require a one piece swimming costume or swimming trunks which must be close fitting without side-pockets and no longer than mid-thigh in length (please note that beach shorts or long legged swim wear are not allowed in the pool). Swimming caps may be worn, but this optional.
Jewellery, accessories, make-up and hair expectations
We recognise that expectations around jewellery, hair and personal appearance must be applied fairly and consistently to all pupils. In line with the Equality Act 2010, we will consider requests for flexibility sensitively on a case-by-case basis where these relate to a pupil’s medical needs, disability, religion or belief, culture, or other protected characteristics.
For health, safety and safeguarding reasons, jewellery should be kept to a minimum. Other than small plain stud earrings, jewellery should not be worn in school unless an agreed adjustment has been made. All jewellery must be removed for PE, swimming and other physical activities.
Watches may be worn, but they must not be smart devices capable of communication or recording.
No make-up should be worn in school. Nail varnish, false nails and nail extensions are not permitted. Nails should be kept short and natural for health and safety reasons, including during PE and practical activities.
Equality and inclusion considerations
The school will ensure that expectations relating to hair and hairstyles do not disadvantage pupils who share protected characteristics.
In particular:
- Natural hair textures and protective hairstyles (e.g. braids, twists, locs, afros) will be permitted.
- Hairstyles or coverings worn for religious or cultural reasons will be respected.
- Requirements will be reviewed to ensure they do not disproportionately affect specific groups of pupils.
- Any restrictions applied (e.g. tied-back hair for safety) will be reasonable, proportionate and based on legitimate aims such as health and safety.
Children should come to school clean and tidy. Long hair should be tied back where needed for health, safety or practical reasons, such as during PE or other active lessons. Hairstyles should be appropriate for school and must not affect safety, learning or participation.
Coats and bags expectation
Children should bring a suitable coat each day, appropriate for the weather, so they are able to learn and play comfortably outdoors throughout the year. This supports outdoor learning and play in all weather.
All pupils should also have a bag for carrying personal belongings, such as reading books, homework and packed lunches.
To help minimise loss or damage and ensure fairness for all, families are asked to avoid sending children to school with expensive or designer items.
Adjustments and requests
The school will make reasonable adjustments where required, including for pupils with disabilities or sensory needs.
Families are encouraged to contact the school to discuss any concerns or request adaptations.
All requests will be considered individually, in line with the school’s duty to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
